RESTARTING THE ECONOMY – MODERN CITIES AND COMPETITIVENESS (12/2014)
The Hellenic Institute for Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development (IEA), in collaboration with Symeon G. Tsomokos SA and Boussias Communications, organized successfully the strategic conference
“Restarting Greek Economy – Modern Cities and Competitiveness”
The conference was held under the auspices of the Municipality Pylaia-Hortiatis, the Union of Hellenic Chambers, and the Region of Central Macedonia.
It aspired to become the vault for a dialogue regarding investment opportunities in the Region and the upgrade of urban infrastructures in order to boost urban performance and to advance the citizens’ living standards.
That is, functional cities with up-to-date urban infrastructures that constitute safe investment destination, increasing capital flows towards their Regions.
The conference took place under certified quality standards and event sustainability management, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 20121.
Conference goal
European aim for social and regional convergence is signified and carried out through increasingly assertive efforts by the European Union for local and regional development. The Lisbon Treaty outlines the exigencies of the increased regional role. The local and regional development are decisive factors that enhance development prospects of European Union member states. The creation of a viable developmental model with comparative, competitive advantages presupposes the backing for the institutional role of local communities and authorities at the local and regional administration level.
The conference emphasized on the new entrepreneurship model that has outward-looking, energy self-sustainment, and innovation in Northern Greece as its criterion.
